CASE STUDY:
From Legacy Systems to Lift-Off: Clarion Helps the RAF Museum Halve Its Telephony Costs

“When we compared the options, the Clarion solution came in at over 50% lower than a like-for-like replacement. Financially, it was a no-brainer.”
Results
- 60% lower capital cost: Compared to a traditional IP telephony alternative
- 50% reduction in annual maintenance & 50% reduction in call costs: With greater functionality included as standard
- One unified system across three sites: RAF Museum London, RAF Museum Midlands & Stafford
- Real-time visibility of call performance: Answered, missed & abandoned calls now fully measurable
- Legacy hardware bought back by Clarion: Increase in sustainability
- End-to-end consultancy, implementation & support
“My extension is effectively in my pocket. I can answer calls anywhere without sharing my mobile number.”
SOLUTION
Clarion deployed an on-premise 3CX Phone System with Snom handsets, delivering:
- Built-in reporting & billing
- Multi-site operations for 240 staff
- Flexible desktop & mobile access
- Reduced infrastructure complexity
“Features that used to cost thousands are now just out-of-the-box with our new system.”
PREVIOUS Challenges
The RAF Museum was operating an ageing PBX system that was approaching end-of-life. Any attempt to extend or modernise the platform required additional licences, servers and professional services. With ISDN being withdrawn nationally, the Museum needed a future-proof replacement that would support public-facing operations across multiple sites.
“The process, from proof-of-concept through to support, was very smooth. We’ve really enjoyed working with Clarion and would definitely recommend them.”
