Cost-Effective Communication For Education Through Microsoft Teams
Clarion now offers two ways to enable PSTN calling in Teams – Direct Routing or Operator Connect – giving schools the flexibility to choose the approach that best fits their needs.
Make Microsoft Teams your one-stop-shop for communications through Direct Routing or Operator Connect. Thousands of schools and colleges across the UK are already utilising Microsoft Teams for their internal collaboration, but did you know that you can now benefit from the ability to make and receive calls through MS Teams?
The Phone System solution in Teams means you can directly replace your existing phone system and utilise a full cloud-based UC solution in a single application. This simple, cost-effective add-on enables PSTN calling through Microsoft Teams on any device and so can be set up in minutes.

Two Ways to Bring Calling Into Microsoft Teams
Schools now have two routes to enable phone calling through Teams – Direct Routing or Operator Connect. Both deliver cloud-based telephony within the familiar Teams interface, but they differ in flexibility, setup and control.
- Operator Connect – Quick to deploy, managed by Microsoft-approved providers, simple and cost-effective
- Direct Routing – Greater flexibility, keeps control of numbers, integrates advanced features such as call recording and contact centres
- Which to choose? Operator Connect suits schools seeking simplicity, while Direct Routing is ideal for those with more complex or customised requirements

EXPERT ADVICE
Direct Routing leverages all the benefits of Teams but gives the option to contend SIP Trunks to control costs. If you are looking to use Teams as a unified communication pathway for your business, please call us to assist with your licence, configuration and migration options.
Direct Routing Explained
Each user needs to have Microsoft Teams Phone added to their MS licence. Teams Phone is included in the Education A5 licence and an add-on for the Education A1 and A3 licences. You will then need to connect Microsoft Teams to the traditional phone network via either a Microsoft Calling Plan or using Direct Routing.
